Ruslan Gattarov was born on January 9, 1977. In 1999 he finished the Automobile and Tractor Faculty of South Ural State University (SUSU). Immediately upon graduating from the University he joined the full-time postgraduate courses at SUSU. He then successfully defended the candidate’s dissertation in 2002 and received the candidate degree in biology thereupon. In 2003 – 2005 he was an associate professor at the department of theory and methodology of physical training and sports, SUSU. In 2005 – 2008 he was the head of department of sports improvement, SUSU. From 2010 to the present R. Gattarov is Head of the ‘Sports Nutrition’ research center at Moscow State University of Food Production.
In 2005 – 2010 Ruslan Gattarov was the chairperson of Committee on Youth, Culture and Sport of the Legislative Assembly of Chelyabinsk Oblast. From 2008 to 2010 he headed the Political Council of All-Russian public organization ‘Young Guard of United Russia’. He is a member of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation since 2010, where he has became the chairperson of Commission for Progress of Information Society of the Council of Legislators of the Federation Council. R. Gattarov participates in the government commission for implementation of information technologies into the state bodies’ and local governments’ activities. He is also running the interagency task force for issues on formation of ‘electronic parliament’ within the Board under the President of Russia for progress of information society.
